Like everyone along the Gulf Coast, Kaiser Realty and the CVB are monitoring the clean-up of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and relying on official updates from the Unified Command response team and local emergency management officials for information. We will continue to post confirmed updates on this page as they become available.
- The Alabama Department of Public Health lifted the swimming advisory for gulf waters off Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan. However, the department warns that there may still be sporadic oil on or near the beaches and discourages individuals from entering the water if there is visible oil present. - Wind and wave action are the primary factors affecting where remaining emulsified oil appears. The cleaning crews are working to remove the oil effects as they occur and beach cleaning machines continue to rake the beaches nightly. Our beaches are open and swimming with caution is permitted.
- Since the permanent capping of the well, no new oil has entered the gulf waters. With no new oil flowing into the Gulf, the amount of oil reaching our shoreline has decreased.

Yes, it’s true! The Alabama Gulf Coast has it’s own music festival. The initial 2010 line-up for the Hangout Music Festival has been announced. The three day festival will be held May 14-16 in Gulf Shores. Music sensations Zac Brown Band, Alison Krauss, Black Crowes, Gov’t Mule and John Legend will be among the headlining acts. This is a can’t miss event.
Tickets for the festival for the general public go on sale Monday, February 15. Tickets may be purchased at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, all Surf Style Locations or online. A blockbuster list of top-name musical acts have been added to The Ampitheater at The Wharf lineup for Summer 2009! Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp are booked for July 31. In May, light rock harmonies from the 1970′s will be served up by Three Dog Night. They group appears at The Ampitheater at The Wharf on May 24.
Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire take the stage on June 5. Styx/REO Speedwagon and Steely Dan have back-to-back dates on June 18 and June 19. Previously announced concert dates include Sugarland (May 15), Montgomery Gentry (July 4) and Kenny Chesney (August 6). For ticket information call [Read more...]
