Kaiser Realty Employees at the 2010 Alabama Coastal Cleanup

This Saturday, September 17th, marks the 24th Annual Coastal Cleanup, organized by Alabama PALS (People Against A Littered State) in Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan and Orange Beach. The event kicks off at 8 a.m., with volunteers from around the area walking designated sections of our beautiful coastline to insure the beaches are nice and tidy for everyone’s enjoyment.

“Approximately 5,000 volunteers picked up 100,000 pounds of litter from our treasured Gulf Coast region,” during the 2010 Coastal Cleanup, ensuring that thousands of others can enjoy our sugar white sand beaches.  This year, volunteers will once again be combing the beaches to perfection, but will also be cleaning along the Hwy 59 corridor, from I-65 all the way to Gulf Shores. This will provide a brilliant introduction of the Gulf Coast to those traveling towards the Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan and Orange Beach areas.

Taylor Hicks Concert, Flor-Bama September 3rdThe Flora-Bama is extending the summer fun and letting the good times roll into the cooler weather months with their upcoming fall concerts, the first of which kicks off on Saturday, September 3rd.

Flora-Bama, best known for huge events such as the famous “Mullet Toss,” is looking to start the season off right with their Beach Concert & Party. With food and drink specials, college football and music by American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks, it is sure to be a party to remember!

Opening for Hick’s are local favorites Rollin’ In The Hay and Spoonful James.

This weekend marks the beginning of this year’s Wharf Concert Series presented by Pepsi.

For the past couple of years, the Wharf has done a brilliant job of bringing in big name Rock and Country artists that have just the right amount of that “southern flare” and a real knack for putting on an amazing show. This year is no different as Lynard Skynard and ZZ Top kick off the series at 7:00 pm on Sunday at the magnificent Amphitheater at the Wharf in Orange Beach.

Back for their eighth season, the University of Alabama’s professional summer theatre group, SummerTide Threatre, is returning to the Gulf Coast!

Starting June 3rd, and running every Tuesday through Sunday at 8 pm at the George C. Meyer Performing Arts center in Gulf Shores, the SummerTide Theatre will be performing the iconic 60’s musical, Dames at Sea. Written by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller, Dames at Sea hit its first off-Broadway stage in 1966 and has been gaining notoriety every since. Originally created to parody the upscale Busby Berkeley-style musical pictures, which were prevalent in the 1930s, the SummerTide crew will be sure to keep you entertained with this fantastic comedy.
