USS ALABAMA Memorial Park logo, MobileWith less than one month left to train for the Kaiser Coastal Half- Marathon & 5K, The good people at The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile are hosting the perfect chance to fine tune your race skills.

On Saturday, November 12, at 8:00 A.M., they will be hosting a 5K run to raise funds to help keep up regular maintenance of the Battleship and the surrounding park.  The course will take runners from Battleship Park, east down the Causeway, and loop back for a finish at the end of Battleship Park.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo hosts the 2011 Boo at the Zoo on Oct. 27th, from 4-6 p.m.There is something extra exciting about celebrating a holiday on the beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, and Halloween is no different!

On Thursday, October 27th, The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will be hosting “Boo At The Zoo,” a fun, family focused event geared towards your “Little Ghosts and Goblins,” from infants to 10 year-olds.

The fun kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Zoo in Gulf Shores, and all are invited to join in the festivities.  There will be a costume contest (at 5 p.m.) and fun and entertainment until the events closing at 6 p.m.

The cost for this event is $1 for adults and $2 for children.

Bring the whole family out for “Boo At The Zoo!”

captain Johnny Greene's The IntimidatorOrange Beach / Gulf Shores, AL – We have been fishing a fair amount over this month so far and have had some great trips mixed in with some good weather to go with it.  The 4 hour trolling trips are starting to pick back up as the water clears out from Tropical Storm Lee.  We are seeing some impressive number of Spanish Mackerel starting to show up too.  The half day family trips are continuing to be a great trip with lots of fun and smiles for all the family’s who choose this option to spend some time on a charter fishing trip.

The full day trips are doing really good with big Amberjacks right now as that season continues to be just red-hot!  We have had some wonderful catches of Jacks on the full day trips.  Keep in mind on these trips sometimes it is not the hours you are buying but the fuel and you will be happy when you get back to the dock with a cart of pretty fish!

Kangroo Kraze at The ExploreumJust as the weather is starting to cool down, things are heating up at The Exploreum in Downtown Mobile! Museum-goers of all ages are sure to enjoy the newest exhibit, “Kangaroo Kraze,” hitting the Bay City on October 15th and lasting through January 2nd.

Not only will this exhibit feature some great information on our favorite furry long jumpers, but the exhibit will also feature live wallaroos and of course, kangaroos.  Expert kangaroo trainers Carolyn Lantz and Heather Shosho know the distinct characteristics of Australian wildlife, and will be on site to share their knowledge with you!
