Glenlakes Golf Course, Foley AlabamaSlightly off the beaten path, just north of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, is one gem of a golf course. Glenlakes Golf Club, a Devlin Von-Hagge lay-out put into fruition with the “Vista and Dunes” courses, offers golfers a challenging, exciting 18-hole course with a classic, Scottish feel. The adjoining “Lakes” course is the perfect 9-hole practice course to sharpen your skills.

Aside from the 27 holes of golf, delicious clubhouse grill and bar, and well stocked pro-shop, one of the most exciting features of Glenlakes is soon to be unveiled! The Vista and Dunes courses have been closed recently for green renovations, but come August 22nd, golfers can once again hit the links and enjoy the brand new Champion Bermuda ultra-dwarf outing greens, the same grass found at the iconic Peninsula and Kiva Dunes courses.

Lost Key Golf Club, Green/Club ViewNestled along Perdido Beach Boulevard, just outside Orange Beach, is perhaps one of the most exciting golf courses in the area. Lost Key Golf Club, designed by Arnold Palmer, may not be the easiest course you have ever played, but it just might be one of the most fun rounds you will experience.

Lost Key Golf Club is not a course to try to drive long and hope for a soft fairway landing. According to resident golf pro, Roger Willoughby, the key is playing the course smart; using clubs that might not normally get much use in your weekly 18-holes.  The shorter fairways, numerous obstacles and amazing scenery might actually be what your game has been asking for.

An added bonus of the course at the Lost Key Golf Club is that the property doubles as a wildlife refuge [Read more...]

The topic of golf has been on our minds like crazy lately, and with good reason.  The weather has been great, the fairways are looking wonderful and it seems that our friends at the local courses have been working tirelessly to make sure you can get out there and play from sunup to sundown.

One thing that we often overlook when talking about golf, however, is where to eat after a long day in the sun.  That is why we have put together a quick list of some of the dishes to grab after a great day out on the course.

1. “Cheeseburger in Paradise” from LuLu’s at Homeport Marina.

Not only is this post-game feast named after Lucy Buffett’s brother, Jimmy’s, beach hit, but it has her own special twist. Made of fresh, hand pattied, local ground beef and topped with your choice seamingly endless add-ons, it’s no wonder why this burger is famous.  Pair this big guy with a side of friend green tomatoes and a drink and watch the sun go down over the beautiful Homeport Marina - you will find yourself having a perfect southern finish to the day.

Cosmo's Seared Tuna2. “Seared Ahi Tuna Salad” from Cosmo’s Restaurant & Bar.

If only every salad in the world could be topped with a perfectly seasoned, sesame encrusted Ahi Tuna steak, piles of blue cheese crumbles and dried cranberries.  Luckily for you, Cosmo’s has mastered the art of this dish, which can be found on both their lunch and dinner menus. Start the meal off with a cup of Duck and Andouille Sausage Gumbo, and you are sure to leave happy one happy golfer.

3. “Gulf Shrimp Sliders” from West Beach Grille.

Being able to say that you are the only restaurant in Gulf Shores nestled perfectly between [Read more...]

There is one day each year when the planets seem to align perfectly to create what is often times referred to as the “happiest day on earth” … Father’s Day.

OK, this might not be exactly the case, but at Kaiser Realty, that is how we want all the dads out there to feel.  That is why we have put together this list of great Father’s Day activities for the dads to do on their special day here in Beautiful South Baldwin County.

Wahoo Fishing- Charter a boat for the day:  This is a great chance to get a group of dads together and leave all the worries back on the shore.  It can be on a fishing charter like Captain Johnny Greene’s boat the Intimidator offers, a glass bottom dolphin tour like the good people at Dolphins Down Under or even an open water sail like Wild Hearts offers its patrons.  No matter what times of time you decide to spend on the water, your sea legs and clear mind will thank you.
