We departed Orange Beach Marina at 6:30am this morning and headed south out of Perdido pass. The wind had shifted a little earlier than expected, so we were in defensive mode meaning that we were just going to take it easy and see how the conditions went as the day went by.

As we arrive to our first fishing location everyone was instantly hooked up with nice vermillion snapper, red snapper and white snapper. With the day off to a great start, everybody feeling well, we decided to keep going further south.

Our second fishing spot we caught a few more Vermillion snapper as well as some of the biggest, nicest red snapper we have caught in a long time. All were safely caught, photographed and released.

At this point, Tim and his family were feeling good the seas were still about the same so we pointed the boat south in search of amberjack’s and perhaps a scamp or red grouper.

Then weather conditions begin to deteriorate over just a few miles from the spot I had picked out. Once we arrived, we were instantly hooked up with several nice jacks and one big red grouper. With everyone’s emotions peaked we moved one more mile further South and caught the remaining balance of our limit of amberjack’s, one really big scamp and one more nice red grouper. At this point, we started working our way home hitting a few more spots along the way in hopes of catching a scamp but only catching more big red snapper. At this time, everyone is ready to head in.

So with Drew and Rossi cleaning the boat Tim breaks out the secret recipe steaks that he had been marinating all day. With the big green egg grill lit, steaks cooking we had made it through another day and finished up to 2012 season with a bang!

The winter time is “the” time for the serious fishermen to get out enjoy some great action. This is a cool time of year that some savvy anglers wait for all year as fishing has moved in to a winter time pattern a long on the Alabama Gulf Coast. The water temperature has fallen into the low 60 degree range and most of the seasonal bait fish are gone offshore to warmer waters.

If you like the simple 4 hour trolling trips, between now and Christmas is the time that you can have some good luck with the big schools of redfish as the move up on the beach to spawn. You can also catch other fish but these fish are big and fun!

The 6 hour trips are year-round the most popular trip that we offer for families and friends that are here on vacation. These fishing trips offer lots of diversity and are long enough trips to offer you some great action. In the winter time 6 hour trips will [Read more...]

The fall time weather patterns have finally arrived at the beach. The warm summer sun has left the Gulf of Mexico waters warm even as the weather starts to cool off and the days become shorter.  As the big schools of bait fish push further offshore this, it will make for some fantastic action and I cannot think of a better time to run a 4 hour fishing charter for Spanish and King mackerel.  This is a very relaxed type of fishing that is kid friendly yet has enough action to keep everyone involved.  Also, you may find big schools of bull redfish as [Read more...]

Captain Johnny Greene's Intimidator Sportfishing, Gulf Shores & Orange BeachOver the past several weeks we have run many offshore overnight fishing charters off the Alabama Gulf Coast with tremendous success for large gag grouper, amberjack, blackfin and yellowfin tuna’s.

Proving once again why this is truly the best time of year to fish, as the weather cools off the water remains warm, the fish like it as much as we do!

The overnight trips are proving much diversity in our catch and lots of happy and satisfied returning anglers as always.

However, if overnight offshore fishing is not your thing, do not worry. The 10-12 hour day trips have been just phenomenal with the vermilion snapper, white snapper, scamps, gag grouper and the amberjacks. [Read more...]

With the looming closure for gag grouper just six weeks away now is the time to make plans to go get them on a deep sea charter fishing trip . With the recent passing of hurricane Isaac just to the south of the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores areas the grouper have been very active and has made for some great day trips.

During the fall you may also keep Vermillion snapper, amberjack, scamps and king mackerel which will make for a fine box of fish for you and your buddies to enjoy on your fishing trip.

The fall is absolutely my most favorite time of year to fish. The air starts to cool off in the water temperatures remain warm until early December. Come on let’s go fishing!
