We departed Orange Beach Marina at 6:30am this morning and headed south out of Perdido pass. The wind had shifted a little earlier than expected, so we were in defensive mode meaning that we were just going to take it easy and see how the conditions went as the day went by.

As we arrive to our first fishing location everyone was instantly hooked up with nice vermillion snapper, red snapper and white snapper. With the day off to a great start, everybody feeling well, we decided to keep going further south.

Our second fishing spot we caught a few more Vermillion snapper as well as some of the biggest, nicest red snapper we have caught in a long time. All were safely caught, photographed and released.

At this point, Tim and his family were feeling good the seas were still about the same so we pointed the boat south in search of amberjack’s and perhaps a scamp or red grouper.

Then weather conditions begin to deteriorate over just a few miles from the spot I had picked out. Once we arrived, we were instantly hooked up with several nice jacks and one big red grouper. With everyone’s emotions peaked we moved one more mile further South and caught the remaining balance of our limit of amberjack’s, one really big scamp and one more nice red grouper. At this point, we started working our way home hitting a few more spots along the way in hopes of catching a scamp but only catching more big red snapper. At this time, everyone is ready to head in.

So with Drew and Rossi cleaning the boat Tim breaks out the secret recipe steaks that he had been marinating all day. With the big green egg grill lit, steaks cooking we had made it through another day and finished up to 2012 season with a bang!

As residents of the Alabama Gulf Coast, we are able to enjoy the beauty and wonder of the sugar white sand beaches and the breathtaking Gulf waters each and every day. To some, this has been simply a way of life since their childhood, and for others, visiting the beaches and coastal areas is the highlight of their entire year. In order to keep our beaches healthy and the wildlife and vegetation in as pristine a condition as possible, the city of Gulf Shores is sponsoring the Beach Renourishment project to help restore and protect the beautiful coastlines of our area. These efforts are especially necessary following this year’s storm season, which brought Hurricane Isaac to the shores of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Listed below are the approximate dates (as of November 13, 2012) that each section of our Gulf Shores beaches will be receiving special attention in the forms of underwater dredging, and other necessary procedures to fantastic coastlines for years to come.

·         Little Lagoon Pass to Gulf State Park – November 23rd to December 31st

·         Gulf State Park – December 31st to January 16th

·         Orange Beach – January 16th to March 14th

·         Perdido Key – March 14th to March 29th

As we receive further updates regarding the time frame and work being done to help restore our beloved coastlines, we will be providing updates to all of our past, present and future guests on our website.
