The Hangout’s first ever Haunted House “Terror on the Gulf” will open on the weekend of October 19th and 20th. The Haunted House be open from 7pm-10pm for all ages and 11pm-1am they throw in a little “adult” twist for 18 years and up. The cost for the Terror on the Gulf will be $5 per person and season passes are available for purchase on The Hangout Website for just $25. The Terror on the Gulf will be open October 19 & 20th and October 26th through the 31st. Don’t miss out on the Hangout’s first ever Terror on the Gulf!

November 8th through the 18th The 28th Annual Frank Brown Songwriters Festival will once again return to the Gulf Coast! Frank Brown was a night watchman at the Flora-Bama for 28 years. Not retiring until he was 91, Frank kept peace at the Flora-Bama with his genuine caring attitude towards other people. As Frank would say, “Success is when a man gets what he wants; happiness is when a man wants what he’s got.”

The festival will showcase Grammy Award winning songwriters and up and coming stars performing their own original written songs. Over the past several weeks we have run many offshore overnight fishing charters off the Alabama Gulf Coast with tremendous success for large gag grouper, amberjack, blackfin and yellowfin tuna’s.

Proving once again why this is truly the best time of year to fish, as the weather cools off the water remains warm, the fish like it as much as we do!

The overnight trips are proving much diversity in our catch and lots of happy and satisfied returning anglers as always.

However, if overnight offshore fishing is not your thing, do not worry. The 10-12 hour day trips have been just phenomenal with the vermilion snapper, white snapper, scamps, gag grouper and the amberjacks. [Read more...]

November 23rd signals the official Kick Off of Coastal Christmas! What is Coastal Christmas? Coastal Christmas, since most everyone knows the only thing white we see here all year is the beautiful sugar, white sand beaches (no complaining here), our community has put together different events to help get in the Holiday Spirit! The first event they have in line up this year will be Santa by Fire on November 25th at the Gulf State Park Pavilion. But the fun doesn’t stop there!

December 1st pictures with Santa have been arranged at the Cotton Bayou Beach Access from 2p.m. to 5p.m. with all proceeds benefiting youth mission trips. After you get your pictures made and while you are all dressed for the occasion, head on over to the Taste of the Islands, presented by The Mystic Order of Mirams at The Wharf Conference Center. The Taste of the Islands will be held from 6p.m. until 11p.m. There will be a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting Toys for Tots. Visit The Mystic Order of Mirams for ticket information.

The fun continues to roll through out the month with a very exciting Santa Drop on December 8th at the Flora Bama. Santa, leaving the reindeer’s at home to rest up for their big night, has decided to parachute onto our beautiful beaches to join us all in the fun of great live music, entertaining games, and to provide himself for wonderful Christmas photos to be taken. Lace up your running shoes and get ready to shed the “holiday pounds”. November 24th come on out to the Orange Beach Sportsplex and join Kaiser Realty along with family and friends in the 5th Annual Kaiser Realty Coastal 1/2 Marathon, 5K, and 1 Mile Run.

Each distance run has a course set to take your through the beautiful Gulf State Park and all courses are USATF certified courses that begin and finishing at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Online registration closes at midnight on the Tuesday before the race but you can register at the race site on Friday or Saturday. Don’t miss all the excitement on Friday, November 23rd with packet pick up, late registration and an Olympian guest speaker.
